We Salute Our Veterans!

We love being your favorite steakhouse.  And we’re happy that we’re a top pick for late night food, outdoor dining, happy hour and scenic places to eat.  But we’re so much more, too!

On Saturday, October 20, we were honored to host our 7th Annual “Bravery Uncorked” benefit here at Boccaccio’s, saluting the service and sacrifice made by our men and women in uniform.

At our gorgeous lakefront afternoon event, guests nibbled on appetizers including mini crab cakes and sausage-stuffed mushroom caps, sampled our signature salads including roasted beet and mixed baby greens, and enjoyed an assortment of hot dishes including salmon and other fine fish, pastas, and savory chicken dishes. For dessert, no one could resist our chocolate-covered strawberries, tiramisu, and cheesecake!

The event was our annual fundraiser for Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that offers more than 3,000 annual adaptive therapy recreation lessons to veterans who have been wounded in service to our country.

DSES offers these men and women outdoors winter and summer activities in the Mammoth Lakes community to restore body, mind, and spirit, including lessons in flat-water kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding. The program utilizes techniques that are tailored to the abilities and goals of each student emphasizing safety and fun.

Between 2012 and 2015, the “Bravery Uncorked” benefit at Boccaccio’s raised more than $50,000 for Wounded Warrior programs. Since 2015, our fundraiser has generated more than $200,000 for the National Wounded Warrior Center, a project now being spearheaded by DSES. This Center will be a place for service men and women of any age, any war, and with any disability to go to for help with the transition back to civilian life.  They can learn a new vocation or take classes at Cerro Coso Community College, heal mentally, physically, and emotionally through a wellness program, and enjoy all of the therapeutic recreation available in Mammoth Lakes.

We are grateful to our generous guests and supporters who make this project possible each year, and from everyone at Boccaccio’s, our deepest thanks to those who serve our country.
